An Intermediate Guide to Building, Designing, and Maintaining a Koi Fish Pond
Building Koi Ponds You already have the basic knowledge needed to build, design, and maintain your Koi fish pond. In this section, I will build on what you already know. Emphasis will be put on the knowledge that will give the beginner Koi fish hobbysit the additional needs to not only create but to maintain the perfect ecosystem for their Koi fish. I will provide you with additional information on how to check your Koi pond water quality, treatments you can use in your pond, Koi fish diseases, Koi pond filtration, pond pumps, and water garden plants. I will discuss sun and shade, wind, microclimates, slopes and runoff, and go into a little more detail on how to design and build your Koi fish pond, including sizes and styles. I will also go into lighting and how to use it to enhance the design of your pond. Will you use a flexible or a preformed liner for your Koi fish pond? Will you be installing a preformed shell? Is it plastic or fiberglass? What other materials are available and how will you configure your pond? As you already know, a Koi fish pond is a fun hobby to have. Having Koi is great! Koi fish are very friendly creatures and will eat right out of your hand once they know you, so be sure to have some Koi treats on hand for them. In addition to their regular feeding, I always supplement my Koi's food with various little treats like Koi cookies, which they love. As this section will be a little more advanced than the Beginners Guide you may have some questions regarding some of the topics. Please feel free to send me your e-mails with any questions, along with your pictures of your Koi fish pond to lmack6675@gmail.com. I will be adding the best ones to my site every month.
